The patriarch of this family, John, was born in England and settled in Iowa in 1870. Within two generations, the surname had been chaged to Parratt. The family has remained small, with descendants mainly in Missouri.

General Notes: John Parrott was born in England in February, 1852 and died at his home in Concordia, Kan., Nov. 23, 1922, aged 70 years and 9 months. Mr. Parrott came to America in 1870, locating in Reinbeck, Gundy county, Ia. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Thompson at Reinbeck, Ia., and to this union five children were born; C.M. and F.R. Parrott of Hays, Kan.; R.H. of Osbonrne; and N.W. and C.J. Parrott of Concordia. With his family Mr. Parrott removed to Iowa to Kansas about 18 years ago, locating in Concordia, where he resided until his death. He was converted and united with the Christian church of Concordia 15 years ago and reamined a member until his death. His wife preceded him in death by nearly a year. For more than 50 years Mr. Parrott had been connected with the Singer machine company. Besides his sons, Mr. Parrott is survived by one sister and four nephews who reside in England; a niece living in Detroit, Michg., and many friends and acquaintances. He was quiet and unassuming thruout (sic) his life, yet firm in his loyalty to his friends and to his principles. Funeral services were held at the Christian church on Sunday, Nov. 26, conducted by the Rev. H.G. Bond, and interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Moore is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Hinderliter of Fairfield township and the groom is with the Singer Sewing machine people with headquarters at Hays where they will make their home. Mr. Parratt who was here Sunday went to Hays that evening and was joined by his wife Tuesday evening.

Marriage Notes: Miss Ora Cortner and Frank R. Parratt were united in marriage last evening at the residence of the parents of the Bride. Rev. J.W. General Notes: Mrs. Ora Tumbleson, well known Concordia lady, died at the St. Joseph hospital Tuesday evening, May 5. She had been in ill health for a number of years and had been a patient in the hospital for the past four weeks.

Mrs. Tumbleson, whose maiden name was Ora Cortner, was born December 18, 1881, at Paris, Tex., the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. John Cortner. She moved with her parents to the Norton community, where she lived until coming to Concordia.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethern church.

Surviving are one son, Loyal Parrott of Hastings, Nebr.; one brother, Rev. Raymond Cortner, of South Bend, Ind.; one sister, Mrs. Andrew Hunter, of Los Angeles, Calif., three grandchildren, Robert and Barbara Joan Parrot, and Mrs. Harry Jeremias, all of Hastings, Nebr., and two great grandchilren.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the EUB church, in charge of Rev. Raymond Cortner of South Bend, Ind., who was assisted by Rev. Lowell P. Herrick, pastor of the EUB church. Burial took place in the Mankato cemetery, - Concordia Kansas.

Mrs. Tumbleson lived in Hardy for many years. the Tumbleson home is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Leigh. George Tumbleson was a rural mail carrier at Hardy over thirty years, died in 1934.

She lived in Concordia from 1909 until 1968, when she moved to the nursing home. Mrs. Parratt was a member of Concordia's Presbyterian Church.

She is survived only by 3 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Donald L. Peters, Tulsa, Okla., and Kenneth Norwood Calkins, Jr., 3501 Seward; a sister, Genevieve Parrett, Osborne; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his mother; a sister, Edith; two brothers, John Harold and Harry Parratt; and a nephew, Robert Scrogham.
